I’ve a fan of Blue Nile on Facebook, and it’s one of my favorite Facebook discoveries. I love to browse the website and drool over all the gorgeous. Come holiday time, the beau just might be getting sent some links for gift ideas for moi.
So this edition of My Favorite Things is all about Blue Nile. All my faves are from their sale section. If you see something you like, use code “summer32” at checkout to receive 20 or 35 percent off. Not too shabby.
First off, holy amazing. It’s like a pearl necklace in sterling. I adore the look of this. It somehow mixes elegant and classic with industrial and chic. Swoon. (Click on any of the pics for more.)
I’m not a painter, but I would wear the crap out of this thing. The tiny bursts of color on the pallet are just perfect.
I think I’d wear these earrings everyday. So simple and lovely.
I can’t get over the chain link on this bracelet. Gorgeous.
And that’s just sterling. Check out the diamond and gemstone jewelry sale items too.
Happy browsing. What’s your favorite item?

Ever just have a week where it seems that things are going right? When it’s never any single huge thing, but just a bunch of little things that make you go, “Man, I’m really happy”?
I’m in the middle of one of those, and while the pessimist in me is saying, “Don’t look it straight in the face or it will run away!”, the rest of me (the real me, which I always considered an optimistic realist) is saying, “Shared joy is double joy!!”
So Jac has a case of the happies, and here’s why:
- I get to ride my bike on a REAL bike trip for the first time in like a decade today. My friend Sara is an avid biker, and she lives in the boonies, so she has all these back country routes she takes. My only rules: “Take me on the one with the least hills.” Not only do I have no interest in “feeling the burn” as I climb a hill, but I’m a little rusty and slightly scared of going down a hill.
- I’m heading to Sara’s right after work, so I brought my bike with me today. It only fits in my little Mazda if I take the front tire off, and that’s way too much hassle. So the beau and I swapped cars for the day. I’m driving around in (what feels like) his monster Jeep. When we swapped car keys yesterday, I got all, “OMG, we’re trading cars for the day? This is such an adult relationship!”
- I’ve had some really fantastic custom Etsy orders lately. One woman requested that I switch up the Hear Me Roar necklace to include a hand-stamped initial disk, the lion and a Czech glass bead. Another is looking to make fundraiser bracelets for a friend who got in a horse riding accident. She ordered a bunch of plain silver bracelets so she could add the charms and not worry about the chain itself.
- I put on a bridesmaid dress I need to wear next month to check the shoes last night. When I bought it, I was dumb and listened to the gal at David’s Bridal. The 8 was a bit snug, but the 10 slid right off. “Get the 8,” she said. Stupid me did, and then I got home and tried it on again and thought, “WHY did I listen to her? This gives me horrible vagina armpit.” I figured out that I could zip it all but the last 2 inches, tuck in the ends and be good to go. So I put this dress on last night and … miracle of miracles, it fits perfectly. No idea why — I haven’t lost any weight. The beau is guessing I had some water weight on before? So … how does one keep water weight off? Because I can’t have any when I’m in this wedding!
And that’s it! Nothing huge, as I said, but lots of little things to make a gal grin.
