I giggled and said, ‘OK!’

14 May

A few weeks ago, I celebrated the glory of no longer renting. You may have noticed I was annoyingly vague about what I’d be doing instead of renting.

Whelp, I’ll be moving in with the beau. Who, as of May 6, can also be called the fiance (but will never again be called that because it sounds super douchy).

I’m going to try my best not to get all “blarrrrrrgh, wedding!” on here because, frankly, I don’t want to annoy you. But I am also going to be doing my best to make this shindig a creative, DIY’y ordeal. And that stuff is fun to share. So stay tuned for some of that goodness.

And, because the first words out of everyone’s mouth after “Congrats!!” is “How’d he do it?”, here’s the SparkNotes of The Proposal:

I had called the beau before going into work for a Sunday shift, and he told me, “Call me when you get off work.” I obliged, and he said, “I’m coming over.” He got to my apartment about 10 minutes after I did. He stumbled all over his feet when he walked in. (He’d had the ring in his back pocket and was walking backwards so I wouldn’t see the bulge.) We got a few steps into the apartment, and he turned to me and hugged me hello. I heard his heart beating when I pressed my head against his chest, and I pulled back to look at him. He had a flop sweat going, was trembling and was very, very red. “Oh, my God, what happened, what’s wrong, is everything OK?” I asked. “Everything’s fine,” he said, and he dropped to a knee and pulled out a ring. I said, “Oh, shit!” He said, “Jaclyn (insert last name), will you be my wife?” I clapped my hands to my mouth, giggled and said “OK!” We hugged. I asked “Are you sure???” Because that seems like a normal thing to ask, right? I jumped up and down a little. And then I said, “Wait. I get a ring. Where’d it go? Put it on me!” Oh yes, the jewelry girl was so flippin’ happy, she totally forgot about the ring.

That’s probably pretty long for the SparkNotes version. Sorry. I can’t help it. I’m ecstatic.

This is also going to say that these next few weekends are going to be crazy busy. I’ll be packing up as much as I can before renting the U-Haul and moving all the big shit into the beau’s … erm … OUR house. So I may be a little quiet for a few. (Or maybe I’ll be posting more than ever?) So if you don’t see me around for a while, don’t be alarmed. Nothing bad has happened.

Just good things.

I KNEW it!!!! I actually kind of expected it after New Year’s, but then though okay, maybe not yet. But even then it was tickling the back of my mind every time I read something you wrote about the two of you. So then when you got all vague, I got SUPER suspicious! (Which you know because I questioned your living arrangements in email 🙂 ). So, um, CONGRATS!!! I for one am really looking forward to your posts about ALL of it! So exciting! I’m really, truly, so happy for you. (((Hugs)))

I’m so happy for youuuuu. I sort of figured this was coming, but i HATE when people ask Nate & me when/if we’re getting engaged, so I have politely kept quiet. But I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU THAT I AM JUST BURSTING! And now I’m even MORE bummed that I won’t see you this weekend!!!

Your life journey really now has become a great adventure. Jac, thanks for sharing the moment. You made this 50-year-old man cry. Tears of joy. Good things come to those who wait, that goes for Jeff and you both. ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Happy hug)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I am SO happy for you! And for him, too. Cuz frankly? He scored an awesome lady. Totally could tell you were moving in with him but didn’t want to press you for details. I, for one, love excessive wedding talk – so get to it! Now that we’ve all said congrats and we know how he did it, we will all want to know when and where and colors and on and on and on. 😀
