American Heart Association donation

29 Jan

Last month, I was contacted by Lauren over at The Elephant’s Trunk to see if I’d be interested in donating something red for a basket she was putting together to auction off for The American Heart Association‘s Heart of Gold Gala, a San Antonio-based funrdasising event. I thought a red-themed cluster necklace would be perfect:

After I made the necklace, I decided I was so happy with how it turned out that I would post it at Jac & Elsie for a limited time. This red cluster necklace — made with shades of red Swarovski crystals and Czech glass beads — will be available in my shop through Feb. 14.

I also just posted a necklace that I find to be a perfect example of how something beautiful can come from something … less than beautiful.

On a recent antique store run, I found a broken and mangled bracelet with a clear rhinestone pendant. The pendant was dirty, and one of its bails was bent. It was haphazardly attached to the chain and just looked pathetic.

Naturally, I bought it.

I trashed the chain and fixed the bent bail. I cleaned the stone, and I attached the rhinestone to a slim, silver-toned chain. And what was once a pretty horrible bracelet is now a gorgeous solitaire necklace:

I hope you like the goodies I just posted in Jac & Elsie, and I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I just got back from an over-nighter at my beau’s brother and sister-in-law’s. His niece was baptized last night, and we had a veg-out good time after — one of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday night!
