Quoted and noted: T.S. Elliot

8 Nov

“And the end of all our exploring/will be to arrive where we started/and know the place for the first time.” ~ T.S. Elliott, “Four Quarters”

You may recall that I recently blogged about journaling, inspired in part by a New York Times column and a convo with a friend.

Naturally, that led to me pitching a story about local journalers and diary keepers. I did my first interview for the story yesterday, and as he was flipping through one of his journals — there were more than 30 in all — a poem fell out. He gave it to me, and on the top of the printed-out page was the above quote.

I dig.

*Swoon* This is one of my all-time favorite quotes. I’ve got it written on a post-it note and stuck to the inside cover of my weekly planner. I think about it whenever I get homesick and it gives me peace for some reason. I’m definitely guilty of being someone who had to leave home to truly appreciate home.

I'd love to hear what you think!
