Joey’s Auction 2011 will kick off with a hand-knotted pearl necklace from Jaclyn1423, aka: Joey’s Sister’s Etsy Shop.
The necklace features two types of freshwater pearls: 6mm ivory pearls and 4 mm mauve pearls. The first and last third of the necklace feature all mauve pearls. The center third, the section in front when you wear it, feature ivory pearls broken up occasionally with a single mauve pearl. The necklace is 19 1/2 inches long and features a sterling silver heart-and-arrow toggle clasp.
The pearls are strung on a silk thread and knotted between each bead. (If you must know, I watched reruns of “How I Met Your Mother” as I knotted. It’s time-consuming, yes, but the end product is so elegant and classic.)
The benefit of the knotting between the pearls? Should the strand break, you will not find yourself with pearls all over the floor. It also helps to protect the pearl.
