For the next two weeks, Snap, Crackle, Pop is going to be dedicated to auctions and dedicated to Joey.
If you’ve followed this blog, you know I have a brother with autism. He turns 21 on Aug. 16, and to celebrate, I’ve been collecting handmade goodies from friends, family members and strangers for the past three weeks for Joey’s Auction. One-hundred percent of the money I raise will go to Elim Christian School, which is where Joey goes to high school. Illinois will let special needs kids attend high school until they are 21, so Joey’s got one more year. Even when he has graduated, however, the school will continue to serve as a special form of life support for families who need its teaching and guidance.
Here’s how Joey’s Auction will work:
Each day through the 14th, I will post two to three auctions. If you like the item up for grabs, place your bid in the comments, and be sure to leave your e-mail address so I can contact you should you win. Each item will be a separate post, and each post will indicate when that particular auction is over.
If you have the highest bid by the time the auction closes, you win! I will swap your contact info with that of the crafter so the two of you can coordinate shipping. In some cases, the item up for bid is personalized, so you can set that up with the crafter, too.
All money can be paid via PayPal or check. I set up a PayPal account specifically for this, and the coordinating e-mail address is Jaclyn1423@yahoo.com. If you’d rather send me a check, make a note in your bid, and I will e-mail you my address. Make checks out to “Elim Christian School.”
If you’d like to contribute to Joey’s Auction but would rather not bid on any of the items, that’s A-OK. Just leave a comment, and I can e-mail you my address should you wish to pay by check, or put the funds straight into the Joey’s Auction PayPal account.
As a thank you to all the bidders, your name will be entered in a separate drawing for every bid you make. At the end of the auction, I will draw a name at random, and that person will win a surprise goodie bag from items at my Etsy shop, Jaclyn1423.
If you have any questions at all, just leave me a comment and I’ll answer as soon as I can.
