Sigh. Could I be into comic books?

24 Mar

I stepped foot into my first comic book store over the weekend. I admit, it was with the beau. I also admit, I did not protest, oh, at all. I’ve read a handful of graphic novels — some Stephen King ones and “Watchmen” — and I found them fabulous.

Looking around the comic book store, two things were apparent:

  1. I was the first female to step foot in that store in a long time.
  2. I would be making purchases.

Within 30 seconds, I found stacks of Donald Duck comics. A short time later, I found the new King “Dark Tower” comic on the shelf. I did buy a Duck comic. I did not buy the King one (though the beau did, bless him), mainly because I get the hardbound versions that include six or so comics per anthology. I’m so hardcore.

I did, however, also walk out with a graphic novel adaptation of “Fahrenheit 451,” complete with introduction by Ray Bradbury. So sexy.

Then, today, I found this. One of the reasons I so love King is his zeal for collaborating in media outside the novel (magazine column, Kindle, country music CD narrator). But a whole new comic story? On vampires?

Swoon.

One of my best female friends is SO into comic books. You are not alone. 🙂

I'd love to hear what you think!
